It was Sunday morning at 8.30 a.m. and a glowing stream of pig iron began to roll under the blast furnace No. 1 at the Vítkovice Ironworks, accompanied by a sizzle of hot sparks as it had so many times before. A blast was taking place under the furnace. This time, however, it was different, it was watched by 1,200 employees, it was 27 September 1998 and this blast was the last ever in Vítkovice.
On Friday, the whole SINCERE consortium visited us in person.
It was great to meet the people that develop the materials that will be placed
on our facades.
While discussing the application of the SINCERE materials, a heavy rain forced
everyone to enter inside!
We were really happy that for once we were treated as real buildings protecting
humans from nature.
Byla neděle půl deváté ráno a pod vysokou pecí č. 1 ve Vítkovických železárnách se jako už tolikrát předtím začal valit zářící proud surového železa doprovázený sršením žhavých jisker. Pod pecí probíhal odpich. Tentokrát byl však jiný, přihlíželo mu na 1200 zaměstnanců, psalo se 27. září roku 1998 a tento odpich byl ve Vítkovicích vůbec poslední.
